Some Well Earned Fun

About two years ago Jacob decided he wanted a motorcycle. The thought of my six year old on a dirt bike was a little much for me. So I said he could get one if he earned enough money. I figured that gave me until he was at least ten. He decided he could get enough money faster if he enlisted the help of his little brother. Their biggest plan was to start collecting pop cans and recycling them. So every can they saw they picked it up and threw in the truck. After every family function they had a sack full cans. Dad picked up cans from job sites for them. Grandma saved her cans for them. And I did my part by drinking my fair share of Pepsi. They soon had a part time job smashing cans. They were so excited when Santa brought a can smasher for them. The money started coming in a little faster than I thought. They also earned money doing extra jobs for us and they saved all their birthday money. Well as you can see they finally met their goal. They earned and saved enough money to buy this little motorcycle. I am so proud of them for sticking to their goal and not giving up even though two years is an eternity to them. I am still nervous about them on a motorcycle but they earned it.

Hi Brigitte,

Cute Blog!!! I didn't know you were a blogger. Well I have linked your blog with mine. Your kids are so cute. I bet the boys love their new dirt bike! I am so glad we can keep updated on our families now.

I too am impressed with the determination of your boys. I don't think mine would be able to keep something in their sights that long. They seem to "settle" on something else if things take too long to earn. Looks like they are having fun!
